Warcry, from the leader of the UK Libertarian Party

My friends,

We are broke. Our country—whatever it may once have been—is now laden with debt. And this isn’t “the government’s debt”: it is our debt.

The government has no money but what it takes—what it extorts—from us.

We have gone beyond consensus politics: if a man were to come to your door, with a gun, and demand half of everything that you earned—on pain of severe punishment, on pain of the total ruination of your life—would you not protest?

For a moment, lay aside those dutiful thoughts of those starving millions beyond your gate, and think, instead, of those within your own household—within your own family: would you not rather protect them first?

Of course you would: they are your kith and kin and you would expect—would you not?—that everyone, like you, would defend theirs against you were you the one holding the gun.

The government has now utterly removed from you the means of protecting yourself and your family against the man with the gun: indeed, you dare not defend yourself because you fear that it is you, not the mugger, who would end up in the dock.

For the government is the man with the gun, demanding tithes from you: the government is here, at your door. But not randomly.

No.

The government has gone out and bought itself nice things—plasma TVs, second homes, duckhouses, moats. And jobs, and votes. All of those things that you could not afford—because it has been here before: at your door, with a gun.

Five years ago, it was here—threatening you with prison if you did not pay up—for the sake of all of those children who were not yours. You paid, because you had no option.

Four years ago, it was here—threatening you with prison if you did not pay up—for the sake of all of those unhealthy who were not yours. You paid, because you had no option.

Three years ago, it was here—threatening you with prison if you did not pay up—for the sake of all of those uneducated who were not yours. You paid, because you had no option.

Two years ago, it was here—threatening you with prison if you did not pay up—for the sake of all of those feckless bankers who were not yours. You paid, because you had no option.

One year ago, it was here—threatening you with prison if you did not pay up—for the sake of all of those MPs who had no duck-houses or second homes or moats. You paid, because you had no option.

And now the government has spent everything that you had to give, and more, on its pet projects—on buying its second homes, on buying its duckhouses, on buying its votes—and none of it benefited you and yours. Not even by one iota.

The government didn’t care that you couldn’t afford to give any more: it didn’t care that you had no money.

The government didn’t care that you had lost your job: the government didn’t care that all of those thousands of pounds it took in National Insurance payments translated into a few hundred when you were in need.

And now, when you are getting back on your feet—back in a job that is not as good as the one the government destroyed, back struggling to look after your family on the pittance you are paid, back paying off your debts—the government, too, is back: it’s back with the gun.

The government is back—demanding half of what you broke your back to earn—because it has more grand schemes, more votes to buy, more trinkets to deliver to its favoured ones.

Will you so willingly hand over the sweat of your brow? Will you so willingly condemn you and yours to penury? Will you capitulate again?

Or will you fight?

Join us—and help us to stop the extortion.

Join us—and understand that providing for you and yours is not a sin.

Join us—and realise that a society that pulls together is a society that stays together.

Join us—and help us fight for a future in which people help each other voluntarily, because it is right and fitting to do so.

Join us—and help to build a future in which men, women and children take back their work, their birthrights, their dignity and their compassion from a government that cares nothing for you.

Join us.

Because—whether the government is Tory, Labour or LibDem—soon you will have nothing left to lose.Labels: , ,

Piracy in The Channel…so where does that leave Space?

If liberty and order can’t prevail in the English Channel, how can they prevail in space which is and will be  much, much more vital?

David Davis

Successive Tory governments GramscoFabiWeimarians, followed by New Labour GramscoFabiaNazis, none of which, functionally these days, are populated by persons who have served properly, hate the Armed Forces so much that we now have effectively none.

There will, sometime, come a next election that matters. In it, a Libertarian Government will be elected in an England which has left or will immediately leave the UK, as will be inevitable, and therefore also structurallywill leave or has left the EU also. The legalistic shenaniggans will be tremendously hilarious. We do not (as Hitler said infamously, or maybe it was Ludendorff in another war? Or perhaps it was Stalin?) “care nothing for treaties” – we will, as people who do agreement and not force, do our very best to console and satisfy every party who is properly  involved, as is right and proper.

At that point, the lack of methods available to deal with simple stuff like a gang of semi-armed-men riding a rubber-tyre, and then stealing a cargo ship in full daylight at pop-gun-point, will be felt. Whether “our” ship or somebody else’s, is immaterial. The point is that, owing to in-house-Fabianism, control of our near oceans will appear to have been lost.

Since shipping lines will all be private property again by then, this libertarian State will appear incapable of helping to protect such individual property rights. This will be embarrassing to say the least.

In the interim, a very very  strong blue-water-Navy, probably encompassing  fully the Air and Submarine  Arms as is natural, will be a Libertarian Priority. The logical conclusion, so long as GramscoFabiaNazis continue to either exist or be able to teach on this planet, will be an extension to space.

The weaponization of Space, will become necessary for Man’s survival in the Universe in future, in order that he will be able actually to get off here with some hope of establishment elsewhere. It will become therefore a battle against people like Rousseau, Lenin, Marx, Gramsci, Houston Stewart Chamberlain, Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Sir Jonathon Porritt (who is old enough and ugly enough and educated enough to know better), Pol Pot, Mugabe, that bugger who did the Peru thingy, and the like.

A very, very poor, badly-written and also bad and pedestrian, SF novel about politics, about 16 years ago, was started by me then. Fortunately, all trace of  it was lost when that computer went awol, and the only “floppy” (remember those? it fitted puite well on one in MS-Word 2.0 along with lots of other gear) which I had saved was an oldish draft and also was, much later, found to be “corrupted”. In it, fleeing libertarians were forced to construct a ring of Orbital Forts round the Earth (guns facing downwards) after they had left for The Stars, with whatever people and remnants of the Western Canon and Culture thay could carry with them.

I continue to be convinced by those insights which came to me when I was thus younger.

Libertarians will find how many enemies they have, among the still non-disarmed governments of places where they have not electorally triumphed, and they will therefore experience problems, for many many I hope only) months – but let’s not bank on it. Praise the Lord, and keep your powder very very very dry.

New inside look at OCR ICT education…….. …..First hand experience!

Peter Davis

I did this last year at my school, and you could just tell that this task was thought up by the government.  May I point out that the task was to create a video in Windows Movie Maker about recycling.

I think that, well yes, its fair enough that we have to make a video, as we would learn the skills to be able to do it…..But do we have to do it on ‘Recycling’?

Anyway, this was my submission for OCR nationals Unit 23. It got a very high mark, and it took me 20 minutes. I hope you enjoy it … or maybe not.

Yes, you saw it: this is what your children do in year-9 at secondary school it the UK (for foreign readers, this is 13/14 year-olds.)

Blogeditor says:-

Something to do with this stuff would have been more fun…

(…but most of the poor buggers don’t even know what these things are, let alone that they might have even existed.)

“HOME  EDUCATION  AND  THE  BRITISH  STATE :

KEEP  YOUR  HANDS  OFF  OUR  CHILDREN”

The Libertarian Alliance today denounces Ed Balls, Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families in the British Government, for taking the first steps towards what will be the outlawing of home education.

[Mr Balls has accepted a report recommending that all home educating families in England will have to register annually and demonstrate they are providing a suitable education. It further recommends that children should be forced into state schools if parents do not meet certain standards set by the education bureaucrats. See here for further information: http://www.dcsf.gov.uk/pns/DisplayPN.cgi?pn_id=2009_0105 ]

According to Sean Gabb, Director of the LA:

“The right of people to educate their children within the values of their family, their faith or their community has always been respected by the British State. Parents have been legally obliged to proved their children with an education – but have never been obliged to send them to school, or even to notify the authorities of what they intend.

“The current proposals sound moderate. The talk is of giving support, not of forbidding. But they are the first step to outlawing home education. Registration will, for the first time, let the authorities know who is educating their children at home. Once these parents are known, they will be visited and inspected to ensure that they are providing a ‘suitable’ education. What this means – though not all at once: it will take several years of salami slicing – is that parents will be hit with impossible and ever-changing health and safety rules. They will be forced to keep records in rigidly prescribed formats – records that will almost certainly demand disclosure of the race and probable sexuality of the children, and that will (if not first lost on a railway train) be shared with foreign governments and private companies. paper qualifications may be required from parents. They will eventually be forced to teach the feared and discredited National Curriculum.

“At no point will home education be made into a criminal offence – as it is in Germany and Belgium, among other European countries. Instead, it will be surrounded by so many rules and by so much supervision, that most parents who now educate at home will give up. Many who carry on will be picked off one at a time – their children conscripted into a state school for some trifling infraction of deliberately conflicting and arbitrary rules. In extreme cases, parents will have their children taken into ‘care’.

“The motive for regulation is not the safety of children or to provide them with a decent education. State schools do not – and are not intended to – provide children with a decent education. Their purpose is to indoctrinate children with the values of the Establishment. These values used to be love of Queen and Country and a perceived obligation to go and be shot at when rounded up and put into uniform. Nowadays, the values are politically correct multiculturalism.

“As for regulation as a guarantor of safety, we only need look at the nursery worker arrested this week for sexual assaults on children. Since this is a matter before the courts we make no comment on the woman’s guilt or innocence. We do note, however, that she will have been closely examined by Ofsted, and checked against all the relevant databases, and judged officially safe with children. Anyone who thinks regulation makes children safe needs his head examined.

“This current proposals will lead ultimately to a state of affairs in which children can be torn from their homes and forced into schools where they will be brainwashed into values that their parents find abhorrent – and where they will probably be kept illiterate and innumerate as these things were once measured, and where they might also be bullied into suicide or lifelong depression.

“Ed Balls, the Minister concerned, wants all this because his Government has turned Britain into a soft totalitarian state. No child – except, of course, of the rich, who can always buy their way out – must be permitted to escape the ideological apparatus of the New Labour State. Home educators are the equivalent of the Kulaks in the Soviet Union. They show too much independence. They must be destroyed.

“The Libertarian Alliance denounces Mr Balls and the Government in which he is a Minister, and calls on people everywhere – British or not, parents or not – to write to him expressing their own contempt of and opposition to this attempted mass kidnapping of our children.”

The address details for Mr Balls are as follows:

Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families
Sanctuary Buildings
Great Smith Street
London SW1P 3BT
dcfs.ministers@dcfs.gsi.gov.uk

For those who think these things still matter, Mrs Morgan should be addressed in correspondence as “My Lady”

Letters should be brief. They should refer to the report “Review of Elective Home Education in England (June 2009)”
(available at http://www.dcsf.gov.uk/everychildmatters/_download/?id=6080 )

Points worth making are:

  • Home education is a fundamental human right. In a free country, people are left alone to bring their children up in the values and traditions of their own communities or faith. This right has always so far been respected in Britain.
  • The mainstream of research into home education is unanimous that children educated at home receive a better education than at school – even when the parents have little formal education of their own.
  • The current proposals are the thin end of a wedge that will make home education impossible in practice for any but the best-educated or best-connected.
  • The current proposals open homes to inspection by probably hostile officials. These officials will inevitably discriminate on the basis or race or religion or class or sex.
  • Parents will be made to teach subjects that they may find abhorrent in ways that may be inappropriate to their own circumstances.
  • The regulatory system will be expensive and bureaucratic. It will put children at risk by gathering information on them and then losing it.

What is the nature of this titanic struggle, between people and bullies?

David Davis

The Landed Underclass highlights what IMHO is the abiding problem about freedom versus tyranny. In ordinary social intercourse, libertarians believe that spontaneous order (call it Law, if you will) will arise because intelligent animals discover co-operation and agreement to be the best policy. Liberty of course is the mother of this kind of order, since you must be free to agree or not.

The post that he is commenting on wonders if there is some kind of convergence in the minds (if you can call them that) of tyrants, who all seem to be collecting tyranny-Pokemon-cards simultaneously.

I tend to side with Mr Underclass on this one, in that there are indeed two kinds of human beings: those who are normal, and those who want simply to bully all those around them into submission.

We may have to finally address what to do with the other sort: they have been allowed to do too much damage, kill too many innocent people, and cause too much delay, for too many centuries. But I hope it does not come to such times, when such things are considered.

Governments have had, in (very very very) small doses, their uses, as has been shown by English History, and indeed the early history of the USA. But I would not go further than that.
